I think let the Aussies bat for another day and half and then go for the draw. :(

That would have been fair enough thinking for England teams of old but this one isn't past winning yet. You can't just "let them bat" ... C'mon positivity :)

What do you think of Collingwood (MBE)? Never been a big fan and this is probably the time to get shot.

He made a couple of good catches but he doesn't match up with the Aussies number five. I'm not sure about the Melbourne pitch but think I'd also bring in Bresnan in place of Finn.

Funny how quickly our batting looks a bit fragile although it seems like it has depth. We are prob ok with the last two pitches and I think bowling is not bad. Bresnan might be good though. As always, its the danger of the mid-order collapse that is most worrying still. We could do with a Mr Cricket.

Couldnt agree more. I think Bresnan will play for his batting as much as anything; Flower won't make any more radical changes than that though.

Wish we had a Mike Hussey or someone like Steve Waugh who used to relish coming in at 80-5 and having to battle to save the innings.

They say Swann should be more of a factor in the next two tests so fingers crossed the pitch will turn and Australia will keep an unchanged side without a spinner.

Well said, that man. Unfortunately though it has quite a lot to do with that other bunch of colonial misfits down under.

The game is not completely foreign to Canadians. The fastest century in world cup cricket was scored by a Canadian in 2002. John Davison scored 111 off 67 balls against the Windies.

Opps I forgot Boxing Day in Australia was today in a normal country. Well, lets have it. 135/0. They got bowled out for 98. Up yours.

I knew it was last night. I thought I'd do something bizarre like watching cricket from Australia, on the computer, in Canada, on Christmas night.

But I forgot.:o

Probably just as well though. With wickets tumbling I'd have stayed up too late and not been up for the footie this morning.

My brother was there, it sounds like it was a fabulous day's play and that the atmosphere was amazing among the English fans

We're going to watch the highlights later and look out for him - he was wearing his Sheffield United shirt (and apparently got chatting to another Blades fan)

The Aussie fans are a really sad lot. They all buggered off when they started losing.

They only sing when they are winning.

I think it is fair to say that it was a satisfactory day of cricket.

If singing means bleating "Siddle Siddle" or "Aussie Aussie Aussie, Oi Oi Oi" then yes :D

Earlier I was monitoring the gruaniad's OBO but I went out for a smoke when it was 277-7 or so.

When I got back we'd won the Ashes.

And the nannies tell us smoking is bad for you.

Ashes to ashes.

Okay, we retained the Ashes, and that's great, and we should celebrate by shagging a hamster or a guinea pig or two, but we need to keep a level head and go to Sydney and win the series out right.
