You can't have curry and beer! Those are Indian and Persian creations! True Brits would be having a bowl of mud.

well, in work writing a report, sat alongside a colleague as midnight rolled around, wished her happy st georges day.
blank look.
explained.
blank look.
gave her a wink and said it was all about the bloke finally slaying his fire breathing dragon.
blank look.
gave up.

Is kind of a shame - but if you read deeper into the above comment I was thinking that when I was back in Leicester (my hometown) for things like the world cup / St Georges day etc the only people around the area that used to paint their faces / houses / cars with the red and white cross were the ones who would no sooner go and beat up someone who wasn't "English".

Quite sad and stupid really that Bazzz is right (not that thats its sad OR stupid for Bazzz to be right) the whole celebration seems to have become more a show political or personal issues rather than the reason it should be (not that I know why it should be anymore either!!!)

Mmmm point taken CP but I suppose I should have said that it was from my experience being dragged up on a completely racist council estate - first husband was an intolerant of anyone tosser who thought he knew it all.

I suppose that was half the reason I left him and the estate as I couldn't stand the small minded world of some people. (Aside from the fact he was a tw@t)
