Its not a new direction, its always been that way
As you know, more than a few people over the years have decided to leave and request that Sue delete their user account. Generally its the more drama queeny ones among us. To my knowledge this is made clear when people ask to be deleted, its a permanent decision, and there is usually a cooling off period before anyone is deleted just to see if they carry on posting anyway.
There are of course a few special people that keep coming back and then decide to leave again, and then come back and so on. After a few such flounces its regarded as more trouble than its worth to deal with repeat offenders, so they are banned before they bother to ask to be deleted again.
Why people dont just stop posting and show some self control I dont know, I dont really know what is gained by having your profile deleted anyway, its just another drain on resources to manage it.

Nope, it wasn't Moondevil/Lancashirebird/she of numerous other usernames. I'm sure if you re-read the OP's previous posts you'll figure it out pretty quickly though.

Instead of trying to be cryptic, you could always provide a link to a post in their previous incarnation. There is no rule that says you cannot do that.

I'm not being cryptic, just thought it was fairly obvious from their very anti-Canada and 'we're moving back to the Lake District aka Utopia' posts that it was Jan The Piglet (aka Elouisa Presley, etc).

cute

Surely that was a thought better left unvoiced!?
