The ubiquitous bloody magpie- vicious scavenging little beggars- poor little baby birdies, whatever you were :(
A few exotics from Costa Rica- Roadside hawk and scarlet macaws Middle picture is nicely composed (and a pleasing shallow depth) but the focus on the bird seems ever so slightly off...or is a lower res pic online? |
Re: Anyone into birds?
I just grabbed one of the ones I had- you should post a selfie ..Ol' Eagle eyes!- well spotted
I actually like the last one - panning trickier to do than one thinks |

Do you Instagram? I've only recently joined and am so impressed with the quality and content of some people's photos. I don't post myself, but I occasionally 'like' a photo and have a collection of other's people's beautiful photos. It's great platform and after years of avoiding it, I now see what all the fuss is about.
It does seem to be the way forward, a lot of photographers do use Instagram- Flickr was popular but has virtually lost most support. I really must try and get back into it--originally, it was really just to take phone shots, square photos and put them up but now a lot of people use their DSLRs, the format is no longer compulsory square--mineSLR doesn't have wireless so it isn't that straightforward unfortunately -I am, inherently lazy! |

Re: Anyone into birds?
Fred and Bob walked into a restaurant.
"What's that parrot doing over there?" says Bob. "That's not a parrot, it's a toucan" says Fred. "A toucan?" questions Bob. "Yes" says Fred. "They're having a toucan dine special today." I thank you. |

Someone is getting the evil eye it seems, and that someone could be me. He/she just flew up landed on the branch and almost dared me to take the shot. ;)
Although reduced for web viewing this shot is not cropped. |

Carrying my laptop out to the deck is too fiddly. :o (although I did do it for the snow pictures 2014/15...I suspect a bird may fly away ) I do have a digital camera somewhere but way too involved and almost impossible to hold steady when clicking. |

Re: Anyone into birds?
There's a cardinal, well a pair of them, but one of them is fire engine bright red. They've both been flying around the block the last week.
It walked along the neighbours fence as I headed out to pick the little up from dance class. Teasing me as I didn't have my camera. They scarper the second they see me with my camera but hang around for ages when I don't have it. |
Re: Anyone into birds?
The males are red, the females are sort of beige.

They were both red, but one was text book bright, the other, well not as sharp looking. |

A bit mundane...not quite the cardinal I was hoping for, but it is red.

Re: Anyone into birds?
Just saw a mostly white bird on the deck. Can't recall a white bird before.
Might have been a Tufted Titmouse. It's the nearest I can find. http://www.tringa.org/images/8095_Tu...-13-2010_2.jpg |

First is a well hidden wood pecker. Annoying he landed right next to me today, when I didn't have the camera.
The other two, rats with wings. One thing about the warm weather, it's loosening up the decades old lube on these old lenses, so they're quicker and easier to focus. New glasses, probably hasn't helped, fiddled with the diopter setting but still seems slightly out. |

So I'm sitting at the kitchen table right in front of the window and right outside the window is a hanging basket of flowers. Suddenly there's what for a couple of seconds I thought was a rather large bee. Then I realised it was a hummingbird. A real life hummingbird! I actually saw a real life hummingbird about four feet away. That was exciting. http://www.sherv.net/cm/emo/happy/ju...y-emoticon.gif |
