I'm not a hunter but, I suppose, a hunter hater. I've a question for you, as a hunter. How come you people who come to the country to kill things, have to leave so much litter? There's even deposit money to be had on those beer cans and whisky bottles; why leave them scattered by your hide and along the road? Why do you hunters have to be so disrespectful of nature?

I like to fish but I haven't plucked the courage to go hunting and I don't think I'll ever will. Plus, my freezer is full of fish, no room for land animal meat.

Ummm I think you will find that all people drop litter... not just hunters!

I am going deer stalking this weekend for the first time... apprehensive but excited too. I love Venison, so am looking forward to the freezer full of meat!

And for hunter hater - we will make sure to pick up all our litter...! (and will be hunting on family property!)

Many people drop litter on the street but few people except hunters and marijuana farmers venture far into the woods. The latter go out of their way not to disturb anything, not to leave a trace. Hunters, by contrast, are all about a trail of mess and destruction; they haul materials in on quads, build shelters than blast away madly at all and sundry. I find this all very destructive though I admit hunters do indirectly give me a laugh each time I go by the field where the animals have been spray painted;

"C O W" it says on them.

Hmm I think you are making a rather broad generalisation. The hunts that I have been on have been nothing like your description, always aiming to leave the landscape as found (although I will say that sometimes rather a lot of shotgun casings are left behind). I have a feeling that people who act as you have mentioned probably continue acting like that when they are not hunting... that is, they are destructive people more than destructive hunters... or am I in minority?

Shotgun? For deer? Moose? Bear?

I don't agree with dbd on the litter thing but definitely on the destructive toys. There isn't much communing with nature involved. More a week at the hunt cabin with the biys, drink some beer, smoke some wacky baccy, watch some porn and ooo, kill an animal.

There are some women who hunt but it's mostly a male thing, "bonding", getting in touch with the inner Neanderthal. The women are then left with a freezer full of venison ans/or moose sausages, and, in one case i know, a coyote coat.

How narrowminded and sad. Why comment on something you have never got off the couch to even try.

I've never tried cocaine, but I'm happy to provide an opinion

Your insinuation, given your profession, is somewhat inappropriate, don't you think?

Why narrowminded, why sad? Why do you assume i am on a couch? I see nothing wrong with killing animals to eat. I do see something wrong in enjoying it.

I go to 3D archery shoots. I know how hard it is to hit the kill zone, i know the pleasure in that acheivement.Why do i need to risk a wound shot and so hurt an animal? My ego doesn't need that buzz and nor does my freezer.
