They didn't have to wait to enter. According to the couple themselves (on CTV News) they entered and pleaded with the people involved, asking that they leave. The wife even described finding someone passed out at her desk.

Perhaps the original idea of the site has changed.
There are people basically renting out rooms, houses, condos as if they are hotels on that site now, and not all are legal businesses and that is where the problem lies, these people put up a 1 bedroom condo for 50 or 60 night and no reputable hotel can beat that price.

It also reduces tax revenue to the local communities when these illegal suites/rooms/houses are rented.

It's been a issue Whistler and they have started to enforce by-laws in regards to illegal rentals.

Other city's have started to do the same.

Its the illegal rentals that are the issue, not the legitimate, licensed bed and breakfasts which are not really competition for hotels.

I'm a dual Australian/Canadian citizen. I don't have an Australian accent. So what's your point?

As for AirBnB...I've used it a few times and have had nothing but good experiences. I've made some really good friends with some of the hosts whose homes I've stayed in. We rented our home to a single woman last year when we went away for a month and she was excellent.

It's regulations that are doing that. The cost of safe, legit business is just too high.

People use AirBnB to have parties for underage drinkers: Renters throw mansion party, AZ woman's home destroyed - KSLA News 12 Shreveport, Louisiana News Weather & Sports

I mean she's a realtor and even she got conned. And they obviously don't care, the accounts mentioned on Facebook and Twitter are still up.
