Glad I found this thread. I was looking for a chiropractor in Red Deer/Calgary but I'll think again now!

I'm only 26 but my back has never been the greatest and I have just started a job with a mix of very heavy lifting and long drives and I'm starting to notice it more and more. Where is the best place to start, go to a doctor?

So what's the diff between an Osteopath and a chiro?

Don't discount chiropractor's, I work for one and also get treatment on my back, he does an amazing job and comes highly recommended. I get ART (Active Release Therapy).

Do your research thoroughly. Not all are charlatans and put you in pain through treatment.

The entire concept of chiropractic is flawed. "Vertebral subluxations", innate intelligence, curing deafness and asthma by 'fixing' your spine.

IMO the ones who do acheive some results do so because they are using massage therapy and physical therapy techniques.

My OH has back troubles, he went to see the GP who referred him to get some x-rays and scans and then to a sports medicine specialist. All done very quickly too. He's now been referred to a physio for treatment, not sure exactly what that'll involve.

OK so I had very little experience with medical matters in the UK and even less so here so I'm basically useless! Are they even called GP surgeries here? Any suggestions in Red Deer? I should have pretty decent coverage so that shouldn't be a problem. Thanks!
