Bloody thick southerners.

It's cos you northerners all look and sound the same to civilized people.

That'll be it.

Since you asked, Brummie, South African and Texan sound nasty to me.

Oh, and Valley Girl. Totally.

I don't really have an accent anyway, and in my opinion the worst one for me is that strong Irish Ian Paisley type accent.

:eek: I am sure the good Rev Paisley would have a fit at you calling him Irish!!! He's Northern Irish!!
Oh and not all of us from Northern Ireland sound like him, he's in a world of his own  although for me I don't like the really strong Belfast accent. (sorry if anyone is from Belfast!!)

As long as he keeps his mouth shut whilst he's having his fit then fine

I cannot bare that London lazy accent - I don't know if I mean estuary English - wher day owl talk lak tha' wiv nah middle or end in da word, innit. That really grips my s***

I don't even know where it comes from - it's not cockney - it's like a barstardisation of Caribbean mixed with good qual'i'ee chav. It stems from many black lads and is now cool and copied by white lads - and I'll interject with the "that is not racist" bit before anyone else chips in.

See if I can find an example .....

OK - this is a Christmas song - not for kids - and you will only need to play about 10 seconds to get what I mean.

Now please don't take this the wrong way, but I rather like your accent. Especially the fact that after 30 odd years it remains unsullied by contact with cradles.

I thank you for that but it has changed somewhat, not only the accent but the use of language. It used to be instantly recognizable as a London accent, now shopkeepers and the like, in London, question it. I also used to use a lot of local slang, I've dropped much of that in order to be somewhat intelligible here and now struggle to recall it on demand. Note also that I'm not old enough to have been here for thirty years.

Very taken with some NI accents, I am. I'm told though that there's a place, maybe Ballymena, where a sheep tied to a tree is called "temptation" and the accent blends the worst of Ulster and the worst of Scotland.

I don't like the theatrically Jewish manner of speaking beloved of New Yorkers. That I hear every day and, while I like the woman, I should have to listen to that?

Scouse is the worst.

Interestingly in some random poll that people always refer too ( but no one remembers who it was) Geordies are supposed to have the most trusted telephone manner.

As the famous Berkshire gangster Ali G once said- "There are two ways out of the ghetto, the AK or the BA!"
