About being an idiot in Montreal
#1
Someone rightly pointed out the other day I was an idiot for wanting to put DOB on CV! Now I just found out that ,afer sending 15 job applications, I gave out the wrong cell number (its a typo) on my CV -- so now I have all these emails coming from HR depts that my phone number is not in service!
Good Advice: get someone to double check the contact number on your CV.

You were indeed lucky. A year or so ago Souvette applied for a govt job. It had to be submitted electronically and by midnight on a certain date. She hit the send button that night and went to bed. We didn't see the error message until the next day. Mis-typed the email address. The HR thingy was not sympathetic, even when provided with proof that she had tried to send the application on time.

An overdue clarification: If one goes back to the original thread, the one dealing with Date of Birth, I said it was idiotic to include ones DOB on a resume. That is not the same as calling someone an outright idiot. One can be very smart but still do something idiotic once in a while.
There is a subtle distinction which seems to have been lost.

I just magnified the subtlety a little, and unfortunately magnifying glasses have got distortions!
I never overlook good advice anyway. I've, what is called in my field of expertise, self-awareness. Always ask what others think of yourself, your views and so on.
Cheers Mike

What if you were double-stupid like me a few years ago and mis-typed your phone number AND your email address. Twas a depressing time until I realised weeks later!!!
