Where else would she get a donkey ride certainly not on Oxford St or Trafalgar Square. Walking up the prom eating steak pudding and chips out of a styrofoam tray. Stopping off for a stick of Blackpool rock then catching a tram to the Pleasure Beach and riding the Big Dipper. Dipping her feet in the North Sea and perhaps catching the Illuminations.

Southport you usually have to walk out about 2 miles to get to the IRISH sea but its in the North West and used to be part of Lancashire and not mentioned in the book either.

You definitely should go to Mablethorpe Town Beach then, it's got it all (according to their website).

Or to go all the way there to do some go karting. The 2 most famous attractions for Canadians going to manchester would be old trafford and anything to do with coronation street. The Hacienda and the madchester scene for some people as well....or the Salford Lads Club.
