i like the ad at the bottom of the thread advertising the top 10 suv's.

anyway, next door had the honda whatever mini van and i think its quite nice, excellent seating, looks ok and does the job for him wife and 4 kids.

i'd avoid the caravan. i know a few colleagues over here that bought them and were frustrated with reliability issues and the seat configuration/ general fit and finish.

just on the suv note though, as i am now apparently an suv pariah, the 7 seater hyundai santa fe is excellent, rides like a car but with space and driving posistion of suv, sort of a posh kia so would appeal.

No deliberate about it - always best to have one before you go ski-ing. You wouldn't want to be caught short on the slopes - them salopettes are a bugger to get down in a hurry I hear...

Hi, We are intending to buy a Toyota Highlander (we're moving to the South Okanagan) - we're buying the sports version but they also have a 7 seater. This is not a model sold in the UK but the '08 is a good looking vehicle and the Highlander has a very good reputation here for reliability as well as value for money. The only issue with it is that it has a 'car' chassis (the camry) and while it makes for a good 'car' ride, it is not an off road vehicle. They also have a hybrid (along with tax rebates) if your interested in better fuel economy as well as the 4 runner if inteested in a harder working off road vehicle.

Best of luck on your search!

I know everyone ignored me upthread, but is there really anything else that gives true minivan space with SUV looks other than the GM Lambda platform vehicles? I haven't seen anything.

I also had a GMC Yukon XL last year, however, found the mileage to be considerably less when ran on diesel!!!

Anyway now we are in Calgary and I have found a good job (took a while!!!) we are looking to buy a 7 seater SUV (mid range). Perfect timing with the high gas prices. . ... At the moment we are thinking about the Nissan Pathfinder but I thought it was worth asking if anyone had any advice or could recommend any similarly equipped models we have not thought of. We can't afford Lexuses (Lexi?) or Infinitis, but equally are too snobby to go for Kias (). Although we hired a Kia once and it was quite nice. But we were worried what the Jones' would think. .

We don't want a people carrier either because they aren't our bag.

Anyway I hope to be posting to this site a lot more now that I have a bit more time and wish to thank you all in advance for your interest!

Much appreciated!

We have a Honda Pilot which seats seven comfortably. It has been very useful for all the visitors we have had.

We picked up on a 2 year old Infiniti 4x4...we found it great for driving to the Ski hills and down to Florida. Don't have to buy brand new especially Japanese.
Saying that, we really do not have that bad a Winter here as other parts so don't take my word for it. Test them out first it's worth itbefore you buy.
