Ah well, in that case, my best evening in Vegas was dinner at Bouchon. Next was dinner at the Bleue Blanc Rouge. Next a visit to Wayne Newton's ranch, it's just outside the city limits and is a stud farm for Arabians. Fortunately, there was no requirement to see nor hear Wayne Newton.

thank you. those first two places for dinner sound a tad expensive? will 3 rednecks and some white council trash from manchester fit in there?

It's America. Except for some places in NYC everyone who can pay the bill fits everywhere. Vegas, more than anywhere, is all about money; class, image, continence, ability to restrain drooling, counts for nothing.

Oh, an experience I'm glad I had was a visit to North Vegas. Maybe a cop doesn't need it but seeing where the people go when they don't win was sobering for me.

It doesn't fit the drinking and knobbing idea of the weekend but it's a short flight to the Hoover Dam, that's well worth seeing. They also sell one day trips with a helicopter ride down the Grand Canyon but that's rather a rip off on account of not being the actual GC but a gulley nearby.

Check out the tv series "Cathouse", often on the cable movie channels....

Basically, bang a porn star, need mucho wonga though...... And it's an hours flight north of Vegas...

There's probably something more fitting Mancunian council white trash available in Vegas itself I'd imagine....

Freemont Street off the strip is worth a visit. It's not edgy or scary, but it's a bit more vibrant than a lot of the bigger resort/hotel places. Tacky as f***, but that's kind of the point I guess.

thanks, do intend to have a look around so will take a gander there. as to the other places i think i'd fit it to all the categories you list apart from the money bit. nevermind, next life.

If you like cars - go and tour the Shelby factory, near the raceway just outside Vegas! There's also a Ferrari store in the Wynn.

If you like tall, slim women - check their adam's apples!!!

Cirque du soleil is always worth going to, though expensive!

Treasure Island has a good and cheap buffet.

Avoid Celine Dionne!

Freemont is OK.

I forget the hotel on the Strip, but they have dollar Heiniken! It's near Circus
Circus!

Don't stay at Circus Circus - its filthy!

Mandalay Bay rocks! Aladdin and Paris are OK. Bellagio's is great. Monte Carlo is good. MGM Grand is OK.

I've been to lots of conventions there!

Oh - and rent a Caddy, or a Hummer, or motorbike and go for a drive up to the Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon!

Maybe not but you would at Ellis Island. No need to dress for dinner there. It's a block south of Ballys on the south side of Koval Lane, next to the tacky Super 8 Motel. They have a micro brewery which is quite good and the extra cut prime rib, with a pint of one of their own brewed beers is a real bargain at $8.95. Not the most opulent joint in town but great value.
