But that's certainly an interesting hypothesis you present... Christmas has become more of a commercial event than a Christian festival? You might be onto something there.

Religiosity has no place in Christmas. It interferes with the pure pursuit of excess in food, drink and stuff.;)

Hold that front page.

I suspect Christmas will be cancelled this year when detectives arrest Santa as part of operation Yewtree :(

Surely you are having a laugh.

Christmas for most is now about the shops shifting a lot of product and meeting their annual sales targets.

Our tree was up at the weekend. Must admit never done it this early before but what with hockey tournaments, holidays to Mexico in a weeks time and then a quick family trip to the UK before Christmas theres no other time to do it. Feels a bit weird must admit especially as + 21 on Monday here in Ottawa but a necessity. Its 15ft so no way could I do it by myself!

Do you see me laughing? That might be the case for businesses, but I was talking about the consumer. "Not religious, don't go to church blah blah", but come Christmas, they are all over it before anyone else, and even playing xmas carol songs

I guess your "Muslim friend" doesn't discriminate, which is good to know

The world needs more people like this

A bit off-topic here but did you see the Mercer Report last night? His rant on the government's treatment of Vets was savage.

I think they were working on the Christmas display at Southcentre Mall on Sunday. I didn't notice any Christmas junk in Canadian Tire yet but I'm sure it would have been in there.

Out of curiousity what do people normally pay for a Christmas tree? The children help on the lot selling trees that the scout group run and they always seems quite expensive to me. It's suprising how many people will wander around the lot on a evening in December when it's -25C looking for the best shaped tree.

Bought a fake one with lights on it about five years ago for about $70.00. It gets cheaper every year.

There's a big difference between culture and religion. Christmas, for a lot people, is unfortunately part of the former; they will surely burn in hell.
