It's killing me. Scared to drive anywhere because of delays. Especially on weekends.

Obviously not Captain obvious to the non footy fans who left the UK when Sky had the broadcasting rights.

Friends are visiting during WC so thought if better be the decent hosts and at least know where to find it.

Looks like Bbc and itv are alternating .

Sky have never had the rights to the World Cup. It is Category A event which means it must have live coverage on free-to-air channels. BBC and ITV will split the coverage.

CBC will be showing all the games live both on TV and online. They are also going to be showing highlights of each days events in the evening.

I've got a nice shiny wall chart poster but HID wouldn't let me put it up in the living room and that was after I bought her a posh new patio settee so she wouldn't bother me about the big tv on the WC weekends. :(

They have an app available as well, "Download the free CBC World Cup App to stream games on your iOS or Android device."

Re: The 2 page World Cup Thread

On the English team - there seems to have been considerably less media hype surrounding the team this time round. I actually find that weird, I think that England have a pretty strong side. A few players may be slightly untested at this level (e.g. Sterling), but I think that England will at least progress from the group. When I compare the potential starting line-ups for Brazil and for the last Euros, I think the current team is quite a bit better.

In summary, I have a suspicion that England are potential dark-horses this year, alongside Belgium (in terms of the Euro teams).

Spoiler:
hopefully I've now jinxed it and it's another hilarious failure

No, but I said to HID "Here's $50 to spend when you're out while I'm watching the footie."

She replied, "Oh, I won't need as much as that."

So I pointed out, she would as it has to last her four weeks.

With regard to the Manaus pitch being "in bad shape", England striker Wayne Rooney is unconcerned, saying: "It's the same for ourselves and Italy, so we'll both have to deal with that." (Source: BBC sport)

Wayne, I see the point you're trying to make but your conclusion might be a little inaccurate. Here's a picture from 2012 that will help you understand:
