Is Rabat a good long term proposition?
I'm looking to buy a period property (ie townhouse) in Malta. Aim is to live there and then sell in a few years (minimum 5-7), with financial aim of maintaining in real terms the property value. [I'm not buying primarily to make money].
Of possible options: Sliema and nearby environs too crowded; Mellieha too remote / quiet in winter; Three Cities property market over-heating; Valletta/Floriana - too expensive; Bugibba/Qawra - tatty apartments; M'scala - 'American' 'Uni' coming; Birzebuggia - Hal Far close; Attard/Lija - too dear; Zejtun - possible stigma from 1980s so might be hard to re-sell. Which narrows the choice down a bit! And now thinking Rabat (Malta). Would be very interested in comments from anyone living there now / recently, what is like as a place to live?

You need to go there and rent for a year, so you will experience both summer and winter. Then you can decide what it is like as a place to live.
