Work Visa - Passport Delay

Work Visa - Passport Delay
Hi all, just wondering if I should be worried here. My passport was sent to immigration to get endorsed with my work visa, I was told it would be with them for 1-2 weeks, they've now had it for over 3 weeks. Has anyone else got any experience of this and can advise of time periods experienced? I was hoping to go to Singapore on the public holiday so it's even more annoying

Would I need my passport to travel from the mainland to Langkawi or the Perhentian Island?
