Anyone living in Langkawi? I heard there are these duty free shops with lots of hidden "jewels" of whisky that are put away as they are not the famous big brands. We are talking about Scotch brands like Bruichladdich. Anyone care for a treasure hunt?

There have been some changes to the range. Nowadays look out for:
Bruichladdich – now their only unpeated whisky. There used to be several peated Bruichladdich whiskies.
Port Charlotte – Bruichladdich’s heavily peated whisky.
Octomore – Bruichladdich’s super heavily peated whisky - the most heavily peated whisky in the world.
Good luck with the treasure hunt!

Thanks JC! Good tip! Heard they'll be available in Malaysia (non-duty free) from mid 2014.
Shame they are not making peaty whisky anymore. There is one peaty whisky dinner next Wednesday though. I'll be going to that one! They have Oban, Talisker and Lagavulin. Another one that is not peated is Glenkinchie.

I've not explained this very well. Sorry.
The restructured range is separated into three distinct brands.
Bruichladdich – now only used for unpeated whisky
Some peated whiskies are still produced, but these are under the Port Charlotte and Octomore brands, and not under the Bruichladdich brand.

Thanks for the explanation JC3! The many changes in Bruichladdich can be quite confusing. Does that mean that Port Charlette and Octomore are now separated from Bruichladdich?

Hey, there is a whisker pairing dinner tomorrow at NAKED. Would you like to go too JC3? Here is the event link. They are pairing Oban, Lagavulin, Talisker and Glenkinchie.

It sounds like it would be a very enjoyable evening. Thanks for the link. Unfortunately I can't make it as I live in Penang.

Hehe, I used to confuse NAKED restaurant to NUDE :P You can always say to your mates: "Let's go NAKED."
That's a shame JC3. Maybe if there is one in Penang next time
Do recommend!
