I wonder if anybody is using this or any similar service to watch Sky Go or BBC iPlayer from Malaysia and if so does it work well?

I just use ex pat shield, down load and install, it's free, and then click onto BBC iplayer or whatever and away I go.

I'm only on a free 1 Mbps connection and everything works fine with no buffering for iplayer or anything else. I am in Singapore but don't see that that should make a difference.

Thanks ex reg I'll give that a try before splashing out £4.99 a month.

Unfortunately Expat Shield does not work on Windows 8 but doesn't tell you that when it installs!

Hi all

I used Expat Shield previously, but now use an extension for Google Chrome called Media Hint. It's excellent; unobtrusive, seamless and easy to switch on and off from within your browser. Highly recommended and free.

That's interesting.

I use Win 7 atm but when I go back to UK my computer there uses Win 8, but I don't need expat shield there, but I'll still try it and see what happens.

abdulawwal, I'm not that keen on chrome bot I suppose you have to use that in order to use Media Hint??????

ex reg; I understand. I personally prefer Chrome and have been using it for ages. A friend of mine isn't a fan, but uses it just for the purpose of Media Hint and iPlayer!

Be careful when you do as it messed up my W8 machine good and proper!

I'm not keen on Chrome either but it got me thinking there may be something similar for Firefox and I came across an extension called JohnDo which I think I will try out although I'm not sure it will work with something like iPlayer :fingerscrossed:

Re: WatchUKTVAbroad

I've just searched my Firefox extensions and can't one called JohnDo.
When I googled it as well nothing came up.

An old laptop I use which runs on Windows Vista, which many people dislike but which I like better than W8 also runs expat shield well.

Although in all honesty now that I use a program with W8 which makes it run more like W7 I get on quite well with W8.

Similar as food, it's all a personal thing.

Thanks for that.
I'll investigate a bit and might then give it a go.

I use Windows 8 and IE10 (although I usually use that in compatibility mode!) and found Hola. The is free and so far works well for me. For football, I use Wiziwig, but that isn't the greatest because of buffering! So if anybody can suggest anything better for the footie, I am all ears!

Thank you ex reg. Knowing the children can still watch Dr Who, etal and I've still got some favourites too is a blessing. Teenage daughter has been fretting about no Eastender or Waterloo Road. Me and Dad were secretly delighted; never mind we can't take away her life (melodramatic 15year olds) and her rubbish viewing, can we? IPlayer here we come. 18 week to move.
