Utilities cost?
Thanks everyone for your help so far.
I can't find much info on electricity and water costs, does anyone know what I will pay for a 5 bedroom house? I imagine we'll have the ac's on at nit but off during the day.

It's also a bit like How long is a piece of string? Just by having your aircon on 1 notch less will make a huge difference. We have ours on at night at 24 degrees. I've heard of others using aircon at 19 degrees I would freeze at that level. Also....depends on whether the aircon unit is new/old and has been serviced regularly. So.... it depends.
Sorry, cannot remember where you are moving from.... if from UK, you'll find electricity costs a lot lower but depends on above.
Water costs are titchy. I would have to check with mr bakedbean but I think it's something ridiculous like 2 ringgits a month.

Haha but I think you are a family. We are just the 2 of us - shower twice a day, washing up, washing machine on every other day.

Re: Utilities cost?
If you use only one air-con day and night and you don't have any other appliances which are heavy on electricity, then I would say about RM450.00pm.
Water is charged by the cubic metre, an average family would pay about RM70.00pm.
Have fun...

Try using the ceiling fans more at night.
We have our AC set at 26 and find that more than comfortable.
Its the jumping in and out of AC (cars) & (offices) that makes you sick.

Mr bb has confirmed we pay RM 5 each month, or 2 quid every 2 months if you like. It ain't much.
Aircon . fans it's a personal choice. My OH cannot use fans for health reasons. AC levels are a personal choice. We are all different. I could easily do without aircon during day (our unit high & breezy) but mr bb loves his aircon

Water RM 70 pm?? Like BB mine is about 5 pm?
I don't use AC. Just fans. Washing machine, lights, showers, TV, HiFi and laptop/phone charging - electric RM 50 pm

We stay in Malacca (condo), my water bill is about RM 90 per quarter.
But my friend stays in Seremban (house) and his water bill is RM60 to 70pm.

Re: Utilities cost?
I expect if you have a house with a pool which needs topping up regularly you'd probably reach those levels.

They don't have a pool, they are local people in a kampung house.
I know the water bill is correct because I've seen the bills.

Re: Utilities cost?
No, it's a normal amount.
Perhaps you live in Selangor or one of the other states where water is subsidised?
