Well, in fact when I was in both India and the Middle East, the questions to me would often include "how much do you earn?". I would always reply "not as much as you might be thinking".

Yes I usually get that while trapped in the lift.

"Oh are you renting here?"
No, we bought.
"How much did you pay?"
Cannot remember.

There really are some nosey buggers.
