Default Thinking of moving to Malaysia

Hi all

My family and I are thinking of moving out to Malaysia in the next couple of years.

I have 2 boys (2 and 6) and am thinking of British schools over there...
What's the best thing to do? Live in a complex with a gym, pool, etc with schools? Is there such a thing..? We'd want to join a golf club, and recommendations?
We're planning a visit next summer but if anyone has any good ideas, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Susie

Hi Susie and .

Malaysia is quite a large country, so it would be beneficial to know whereabouts in Malaysia you are moving to? BE has expats dotted about although the main concentrations are in KL (Kuala Lumpur), Penang and around Johor Baru (JB)/Singapore. Personally, I am in Melaka and I think there are a few others in and around this area. To give you an idea, Penang is NW of KL around 3.5 hours. Melaka is around 2 hours SW and Singapore between 4 and 5 hours. Even KL is about 1 - 1.5 hours from the airport. All these are driving times using the Express Highway. So, if you have an idea of where you are going, that will be a pointer as to who can give you the best advice! As an example for an answer about the golf, Melaka has 4 or 5 courses in relatively close vicinity. Not sure about the other areas, though I know there are a few around KL.

Good question Bluenose. I think we're thinking of KL, but certainly open minded enough to look further a field....

I guess we are looking for an excellent British school and then will live near there, dependant on where the school is.

My kids are currently at a US school and I'd like to get them into the British system.
