Several Penang bus routes have three or more buses per hour. See the schedule here:

We want to move out of KL

Have not been a couple of years to Penang, just read that the property prices have exploded even more than here.

Anyway, we want to rent. Any recommendations regarding a good Condo, well maintained, good facilities (pool, gym, sports) and in an area that is internet connected with minimum 10 Mbps?

Maybe some will shout immediately "You will not find anything for that price", but budget is RM 2000 for 2 or 3 bedroom

You will have no problems finding a suitable place within your budget in Penang. If anything, rents are coming down at the moment. If you want 10Mbps internet you will have to get onto the ISP's and check their coverage, TIME has a interactive map on their site.

Thanks, I like to hear this.

Yes, the TIME map is not so bad when it comes to choose the place. If you can survive with 10 Mbps (plus the booster) and without TV, than their 129 RM per month offer is hard to beat.

David, how large (square feet) should the condo be?
By checking the online real estate websites should you be able to make a shortlist.

900 to 1300 sf would be ok. Fully furnished only. Actually I care more about the common facilities like pool, gym, squash, badminton and/or tennis than the size.

They say it is 10Mbps but it is always 15Mbps when I test it. Also over Xmas and New Year they gave everyone 100 Mbps as a present!

IMO is your budget sufficient for the size and number of bedrooms, fully furnished, that you are looking for. I was less pleased with what was called "gym facilities" at various places. Pool and tennis court seemed everywhere available. In the end I decided to take a gym membership at a local fitness center.

You will certainly get pool and gym in most condos. I think tennis courts, badminton, squash is not so common.

On paper, Alila Horizon in Tanjung Bungah hillside would fit the bill. Units are 1300 to 1400 sq ft. Has nice big swimming pool AND tennis courts. Looking online, google search, RM 2000 seems about right. I rented there for 1 year, before buying elsewhere. It's OK. Has it's Pros and Cons like everywhere.

Trying to think where else you would find tennis courts. Anyone know?

I think there's a gated residence (houses) in Bt Ferringhi with tennis courts but I suspect would be out of your budget, and maybe too big anyway.

Looking around recently we thought that Diamond Villa offered the best sports facilities. Tennis, squash & badminton courts in addition to a gym and large pool. The smaller units are a bit bigger than you require but you should still be able to negotiate a price close to your budget.

I use the Rapid bus quite frequent (3 times a week at times) and I find it decent in terms of the timing during normal non-peak hours. They do follow the schedule as stipulated.

The only problem is when there are massive jams during peak hours or whenever school holiday starts. For some odd reason people like to flock to Penang, which I find it quite amusing....

As you can imagine, finding a place to park especially at the town area can be quite a daunting task, which is why I find the Rapid bus service to be decent.

Oops, I meant to end my #26 post with < 2000RM monthly.
I see now that parts of what I write in a post get lost when I press 'post quick reply' !!
Is that a fault in the forum?
