Online harassment

I'm being harassed online by a Chinese Malaysian woman I had a brief fling with. She alternately says she loves me then threatens me with the police. It's been going on for weeks and she shows no sign of giving up and moving on. I've tried blocking her but she keeps finding me on various websites and spreads lies about me.
Is there anything I can do to pre-empt her doing something crazy like trying to get me arrested on trumped up charges?
I'm just a tourist pass holder (no MM2H) and I'm wary that I have few, if any, rights.

You're being a bit vague, for understandable reasons, so it's difficult to know if she has enough "material" to trump up a charge. This can happen anywhere in the world, not just Malaysia, but there is a view that in Malaysia locals get listened to more than foreigners.
Apart from disappearing for a while to let things cool off all you can really do is to avoid any interaction with her and keep as much evidence of her harrassment as possible.
Hopefully, there is a known history of her behaviour.

Same here in Philippines - if you're foreign you're guilty! We now have a scheme whereby if a Filipino reports a foreigner to immigration for overstaying visa, having wrong visa etc, immigration must investigate and if any truth the informant gets a "reward" of 2000pesos, about US$45.The foreigner gets deported. As you can imagine, the new rule for foreigners is "don't upset a Filipino"!!
The capacity for vindictive behavior is now large!

Wow, quiltman, I didn't know that about the Philippines!
I have a couple of Malay friends here who could maybe pull a few strings for me, but I don't want to call on the cavalry yet. The person in question lives in a bit of a fantasy world so she's probably bluffing about the Police. She has nothing real on me, but she's an expert at throwing so much mud that some of it sticks, online at least. I'll chill out and see if her behaviour abates.

It could possibly be useful for you to download all her online messages which seem inappropriate to you. Or make screen shots and keep those, for future reference. On many websites is it possible for authors to modify or remove their writings afterwards. It could be helpful if you still have the original text at your disposal, even if those modifications have taken place. In those cases where modifications have been made is a "before" and "after" screen shot even more powerful to have.
Online harassment is rampant and there is very little that a victim can do against it, I fear.

I have a record of almost all emails and chats which passed between us online, in which she 'incriminates' herself to some degree.
I have filed a pre-emptive Polis report at the local station with the help of a Malay friend, just in case she decides to get nasty.

OP. I suggest you get all the information together and make a police report at a divisional HQ police station asap.
Alternatively go to the new PDRM International Liason Division HQ at the south end of Petaling Street and make the report there.
Print copies of all emails and any other documentary evidence, plus witness statements if you have any.
Such activities is not unknown in KL... Sometimes even escalating to involve large heavy "relatives" demanding money, so act now.
I would even send a copy of your police report to the Consular office at Brit Hi Comm so they are aware of your predicament.

Thanks, meinkl, I think your advice would be excellent in more threatening circumstances, but I'm sure the person in question is just a bit mentally ill rather than outright malicious or criminal. I had a long chat with a lawyer and I'm happy that I've done enough to protect myself by filing the Polis report.

In the words of the, often misquoted, Yorkshiremen; "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned"
In Asia a gang of thugs is often preferable to one deranged woman. Good luck.
