New Cat Sanctuary
#1
This morning I met a wonderful American expat woman, Teviot, who has recently started a cat sanctuary at Teluk Bahang, the rural seaside village immediately after Batu Ferringhi.
There were about 100 rescued stray cats and kittens there, many from the village, others rescued from elsewhere in Penang and brought there for safety. Teviot told me the cats are arriving faster than they are being adopted, so if you, or someone you know, would like a cat, this is the place to go.
The cat sanctuary is situated in some old wooden kampung buildings right on the beach, just down the road from the roundabout. Help is needed to transform the rundown buildings, construct cat enclosures, design and plant the garden….and get the word out to potential adopters and donors.
Do a Google search for "Cat Lovers International Penang" for details about the sanctuary. And do go visit, it’s a very special place with a taste of the real Penang.
