Quite likely, but I note the Gurney Drive proposed acreage is still the same at 131 acres.

So all condo owners around Tj. Tokong who claim to have sea view will lose that in the coming years? Places such as Marina Bay, Brezza?

No worries, most of the time the haze blocks out the view anyway. If you want a view, go to the cinema

No you still get sea views but maybe not all the way round in the future Brezza would still get sea view though might depend which way you look out I guess. I'm not too sure of orientation at Marina Bay. Again, probably sea view on some sides I suspect. You'd have to go and view and work it out. Or ask a good property agent.

@ ex reg: your response made me smile.

@bb: thank you for your comments. If it is the agent you referred to me: she did not respond to my inquiry. I am in contact with others. Let's test them and see what they say about these new developments.

My missus used to work as a Prop Agent down yur.

She was the only good one I've known - ok a couple of her mates were good as well.

But she did tell me some stories about what she'd heard happening.

We found a couple of good 'uns in Singapore, and many bad ones It's the same everywhere, isn't it.

I seem to be good at attracting bad lawyers everywhere but......totally off topic.

One thing I keep on getting confused about is the population of Penang. A presentation by Penang's Government spoke of 2.5 million people living on Pulau Pinang. Wikipedia says that it is 1.5 million, and this article states 750,000.

I don't know precisely the population but here are the official 2010 Census stats (too bad the data is 5 years old) for the state of Pulau Pinang:

Total rural: 143K. Total urban: 1.4M Urban breakdown is roughly as follows:
Total Malaysian citizens: 1.3M
Malay 528k
Chinese 649K
Indian 149K
Other 5K
Non-Malaysian citizens 87K

Question: Is there still a building currently under construction right beside Straits Quay Marina Mall to the north? It was in progress this summer. I'm wondering what that building is, how many stories and when it'll be done or if it's done now. Does anyone know?

The population of Penang State in 2012 was 1.6m. Of those, 738,500 lived on Penang Island (about 46%).

Hi Montakute,

If you are referring to the building being constructed and squeezed on the site of the former small ground level car park, I heard it will be an office building. It's nowhere near completed.
