Hi there,
We are a family moving to Malaysia in the next few weeks. We are pretty sure that we would prefer to live in KL for the expat community and access to facilities, although I will be working in Putrajaya. At the moment, we are trying to narrow down areas to live in. One of the essentials is good road links with PJ, as I don't want to spend longer than necessary on the commute, especially as I will have my 4-year-old with me there and back.
Can anyone advise where might suit us best? We have done research and come up with TTDI, Sri Hartamas and Mont Kiara - do these sound like good options? We want somewhere with facilities for kids but also with a bit of life around so we aren't bored.
Any advice much appreciated.
Thanks

Hi,
Mont Kiara would be a better choice. This is the area where most of the expats stay. The reason being that there are 3 international school in the community. Restaraunts, grocery stores, bars all are nearby. Some are even within walking distance. And to communite to work, if you are driving, there are highways brings u from mont kiara to putrajaya which takes about 20 to 30minutes depends on the traffic.
Anyway, if you need assistance on accomodation, I would be able to help out. Hope this helps.

Thanks for that. We have taken a place in Bangsar. Are there good routes to Putrajaya from there?

From bangsar, you can go towards Federal highway then towards Sungai Besi. When you are near by Kuchai Lama there, take exit and go on the new highway (MAJU highway) which will take you about 20 minutes to reach PutraJaya. But you have to pay more toll. Anyway, you avoid traffic jam.
