Hola,
No offence to Penang ppl. Im from Penang myself. Own few properties in Gurney Drive ( condo ) and a house in Taman Air Rajah.
However, i grew up in KL. Travel back to Penang few times a year. Visit, CNY & holiday.
I suppose you find Penang as 'modern' as KL or more. My bad, i did not really travel the whole island except Gurney, Pulau Tikus, Batu Ferringhi, Straits Quay and few other places within the area.
also, maybe "Extremely low cost of living in Penang" is not the right sentence to use. Im terribly sorry, forgive me for this. Still, food is very cheap in Penang compared to KL. =) Better yet, much tastier =)

Mr. Baked,
I apologize if i offended you. And i do not mean Penang is a 'stupid' non- educated island. Nothing of that sort.
What i meant is KL offers more choice and options. Most of the well known and recognized International Schools, universities & college are located throughout KL. Near the city.
Very good for you, enjoying your rm1 parking, and your food. and your condo with the nice view of sea.
But pls do not raise expectations for Susie that Penang overall is well-developed with new & modern infrastructure like KL.

Haha, yes so very true. These days I prefer to leave my car and use the LRT/MRT at KL. It is so convenient than getting caught in a 2 hours jam trying to get from Megamall to KL Sentral.
Traffic in Georgetown ain't that bad except for peak hours, morning/lunchtime/work ends.
Education for me? Believe it or not learn I English thru telly, Roger Moore movies, Dallas, Sesame Street and oh, those cartoons like He-Man, Transformers
But seriously, there are quite a few international schools in Penang island. Pelita, St Christopher are the ones I know. However, my Brit friends says that its a bit different how they run things here. Too much homework

No I'm not offended at all. Why should I be? I am just a long term permanent tourist here (MM2H). Just very curious by what you say. Especially re schooling. Is it so bad here in Penang? I have no personal experience of course, but I do mix with parents here including Malaysians and I don't hear them moaning about the schooling, and the kids seem quite happy. Just puzzled really.
I'm probably very biased as I'm not a big fan of KL at all. It's horses for courses isn't it.
