As things have transpired, rather sadly in my case. We may be in a position to spend some time in Malaysia with a view to live there. In the event of this, we were thinking of a 6month rental agreement. Is this feasible? We're thinking KL or Penang. We would just go to Thailand for a week just to straddle the visa. That's I assume you still get a three month visa on entry with a UK passport.
Again apologies this has come up before.
Thanking in advance

Hello Geordie,
Quite a few people here who only stay here over the cold season in Europe do not have a MM2H visa.
They go to Singapore or Thailand for a couple of days and then come bact to get a new 90days.
Some have even done this for longer periods without problems and some of them even own condos here.
So, this shouldn't be any problem. Provided you stay a few days outside of MY.
Regarding a rental for six months, this should also not be a problem.
A lot of condo administrations can however be quite strict with short time lets which are below one or three months.

Thanks Gunnar
I think eventually we will move permanently but obviously I think it would be wise, just see how it goes at first.
