Help need to get out!

My parents lied to me and told me that I could study in Malaysia for just one semester and then travel back home. Now they wont pay for my plane ticket. They don't want me to come back to England, I hate this place, I hate it so very much. I thought it would be nice and exciting and since my parents were paying for my tuition fees I thought everything would be perfect.
Things started getting weird when I asked them when I can come back home, the other night they told me they will not pay for me to come back UK because England is bad influence on me. I'm 23 years old! I should have never trusted them! Is there anyway I can go back? Will the embassy in Malaysia help me to get back home? My parents are adamant and will not pay for my plane ticket. Please help I'm so depressed that sometimes I feel like ending my life. This place has become a nightmare for me.

I don't think the embassy will help you to get back. You need to be a bit more forth coming in you rights t return to the UK. Are you a citizen? do you have the right to reenter? where and how are you living in Malaysia, are you with extended family?

To add to MrsFychan's wise words, if you're 23 then why can't you get a job and pay for your own ticket?

Hi mkaylaxx. May I take it that you're on a student visa in Malaysia? What are you studying? How long have you been here?

I think we all go through it when moving to a new country. Different culture, different ways and maybe not so easy to adapt at your young age. Tell us a bit more about your life there. What don't you like about it?

I'm up in Penang by the way.

I'm a British national, I cant get work cause my student visa does not allow it. I exhausted every other option, my family will not give me money anymore, they just stranded me there as soon as i told them i wanted to come back. In my university Im being stalked by two guys, harassed by them, I tried reporting them but no one believes it. I'm scared I just want to leave, I have no family here, I'm the only one here. This is the first time I have been abroad, I have no money, i cant work. I'm staying with some mates.
-----------------
Im studying education. @christmasoompa i dont quite get your question, why will I not be allowed to re-enter my own country? I don't have any criminal record, this is the first time that i have ever been out of the country.
-----------------
If i could pay for my ticket, i would not be asking here :( this was my last resort

So, since you do not have a job, I presume your parents are sending you money in order for you to live in Malaysia - so they are providing resources for your accommodation, food, tuition etc etc.

Use some of that money to buy your air ticket...... as you say you are 23 years old - act like one. No-one else is going to give you money to buy the ticket.

In limited circumstances the British Embassy may be able to help you.

Can I assume that you are of Malaysian descent if your parents have decided to send you there? Malaysia doesn't allow dual citizenship but you would need to clarify your citizenship status before approaching the British Embassy for help.

From the website of the British High Commission in Kuala Lumpur:

What our British High Commission cannot do for you

We do our best to help British nationals in a wide range of situations, however:
<snip>
•we cannot pay any bills or give you money (in very exceptional circumstances we may lend you some money from public funds, which you will have to pay back)
<snip>

I think it is unlikely they would view the circumstances the OP seems to be in as "very exceptional".

It would be nice to be told more of the OP's story, but I doubt that will happen.

Quick question. Just for clarification you are on a student visa, and you flew there on a one way ticket?

I think that is good advice from SanDiegogirl. Save up some money to go back home....but do you have resources (accommodation, chance of a job) if you go back? You really need to think about this if you wish to lead an independent life.

You say you are staying with mates. So you obviously have friends there.

Your parents have paid for your education for you? That is nice of them. Maybe think carefully about your employment options.

Have you thought of hitchhiking? Chance of a lifetime to build life experience and self-reliance.

Are you going to fund that? That's very generous of you. She says she has no money.

Do we know the OP is female? I had made the assumption that it was a "she", but cannot be certain.

Anyway, I think we would all like to offer helpful advice and suggestions, but need further information from the OP before doing so. For example, there may be cultural issues involved that need to be considered.

I'm not malaysian, i have never been to malaysia before now. I was born and bred in Birmingham, my parents are British citizen, to those who say act like a 23 yeard old, imagine if you were taken and put into a place and left there with no money and no way to earn money. If I was back home i wouldnt need to ask for help. I would get a job and earn my own money so please i didnt come here to be judged and insulted. I thought this site would give me information. I already said i cabt work and earn money, i already wrote that my family are not giving me money anymore. I'm living with a friend but she is going back to her own country, yes i already asked her for help but she cant. I wont have a place to stay by the end of this month. If i had money or a way to get money why would i embarrass myself asking for help here. Why would I put myself through this kind of judgement? If you cant help please say so, I know I'm an adult but even adults make mistakes.

Have you tried contacting the Malaysian visa dept to get a permit to allow you to work? Have you explained the situation to your university to see if there is any assistance they can offer? Have you contacted friends in the UK to see if any of them can lend you the money to return to the UK?

There also seems to be a British High Commission in Kuala Lumpur - https://www.gov.uk/government/world/...n-kuala-lumpur - as a last resort I guess you can contact them to see if they can help in anyway. How did you end up in Malaysia originally - not an obvious choice for most British Uni students.
