You can just have the lens popped out of your glasses on the side you've had surgery. No sense in getting new lenses until after the eye has settled properly.

Not a wimp at all. IMO it's normal to be nervous of having anything done. That's why it's good to do as much research as you can and take as much sedation as they offer.
