I have just picked myself up after being quoted GBP50-70 for a large envelope to be couriered from the UK to Malaysia
Has anyone any better experiences they can share as I need to get some information shipped across, and this cannot be done electronically??

Have you tried parcel2go.com?

Depending upon the size of the letter, "Royal Mail International - Tracked and Signed" should take about a week and cost about a 10 pounds.

Everything is dependent on weight use good digital scales to check then look at the likes of DHL etc.
If you don't have good scales or access to them get a quote as mentioned from Royal Mail, at least you get a free weigh in.

Friend of mine had some documents sent from the UK for around GBP 30.00 using TNT. So you were definitely quoted too high a price!

Agreed £30 seems to be the going rate for a courier which is definitely the fastest service available. I sent a large envelope to Malaysia using La Poste in France and it took a month to arrive.

Royal Mail seems relatively cheap by comparison.

Had a letter from the UK sent by "Royal Mail International - Tracked and Signed" on 2nd April and got here on the 15th April (so 13 days in transit), which was fine for me as they are tickets for use in May.

I recently sent a letter from Bali to Essex, UK by DHL for IDR 500,000 (MYR140 or UK£26)
It was picked up at 11:00am on a Friday and tracked/signed as received at 10:30 the following Monday....and I thought that was outrageously expensive.
The letter authorised to sell shares and the price has since dropped by many thousands of pounds.....so thanks DHL for your speedy delivery!
