My doctor is very cheap, I think 40rm a visit. Costs double that at our paediatrician. Prescriptions, it depends on the medicine and whether they give you the imported versions or a locally produced generic version, but doctors here are allowed to supply the medicines themselves so you will rarely need to visit the pharmacy unless that doctor is out of stock.

As AJ said. For general ailments go along to your nearest klinik. Cost will be minimal and they generally dish out their own medicines and no waiting. If you know roughly what is wrong or what medicines you need, just go along to any pharmacy and ask. They are generally very knowledgable.... and don't forget a lot of stuff you may need a prescription for in UK, you can just buy over counter here.
If you think you've got something serious, just go along to one of the hospitals, register then see a specialist.
I think the system here is just great.
