Default Bringing in DVD's

Hello Everyone,

have heard there is a customs charge to check DVD's brought into Malaysia of
RM$ 4 per disc.

Would anyone have any experience of this, please? any way around it, legally?

many thanks

kenny

You can buy good quality pirated dvds just about anywhere in Malaysia for that amount.
In fact I'll be buying a few tomorrow myself.

I read that too....perhaps instead of shipping them in, put them in your hand luggage. That way if they do get flagged up you could say dump them rather than check them! Just a thought....not that we did that?!

I think if you're bringing in as part of a shipment, the shipper will sort all that out. When we had our shipment trucked from Thailand to Malaysia, there certainly wasn't any RM4 fee charged. The shipper did however go through a list of all our DVDs.

Just before Christmas, Pickfords delivered all my stuff I had in storage (we are staying here longer than we first thought) and the shipment included lots of DVD's which I was not charged extra for.

I read somewhere that customs CAN go through and check each DVD and that's when the RM4 charge comes in but I think you'd have to be unlucky for them to do that.

By the way, you can get UK tv series here - pm me if you want further info!!

I think they just look for the porno stuff. I don't have any of that.... Honest

I used Pickfords also and my stuff arrived last week. 3 full boxes of DVDs. Merely labelled as DVDs on boxes and inventory. No problem and no charges. The boxes weren't opened, checked or anything.

Just to clarify the above, the inventory merely said 'DVDs'. There wasn't a full list of every title or anything (thankfully - would have taken me longer to write that out than it did to pack everything else)
