I watched the first two episodes last night. Definitely not CSI and the others - although there were a couple of formulaic/stereotypical character representations. I do wonder, though, if after a time it may morph into "network style" with swearing. We'll see.
(by that I mean does it keep up the standard)

I'm up to mid-season 5 now, and I'd say it's pretty consistent. I especially like the supporting characters, like 'J. Edgar', and some of the other cops. Even his wife/daughter are quite interesting. The 'DA' guy is perhaps one of the more annoying / stereotypical.

I haven't paid much attention to that other than it seeming expensive. At first it seemed like an apartment and I wondered why he had a newspaper delivered to his balcony (he picked it up) so I decided it was one of those where you go in via an external landing.

Finished watching the first series of Mr Mercedes last night on Amazon. I usually avoid Steven King’s films/programs because they are usually too weird and gory for my liking. The characters in this series are excellent, we laughed several times at some of them.

I really enjoyed Bosch and look forward to the new series. It took me several attempts before I got into it, glad I didn’t give up on it.

I really liked Bosch Season one and Season 2, but disliked Season 3 and never managed to finish it. I think we bailed on it about 1/2 way through.

We were discussing similar over lunch today. The best of series seem to run out of steam…apart from The Sopranos. . I was late into Blue Bloods, then I was hooked and watched all the past seasons. Sadly that seems to have lost its way now. I used to enjoy Donovan until his wife died. It then kept going from the present to the past and lost me.

Cake might have held me but, no.. For me it didn't run out of steam so much as the "feel" of the show changed. I don't know if they wanted to mix it up a bit or something but it lost the feeling of him being a cop and went in a different direction. I cant say more without spoilers but it will be interesting once you reach that point to see if you find the same thing it or not.

The production values didn't drop, I just found I didn't like where it was going.
