I knew our County District Attorney had retired last year but I hadn't taken much notice who had been voted in to replace her until reading a local news story.
Our new DA is called Tom Selleck Yep, Magnum has changed careers!

I am sure he gets all kinds of corny comments
He already did when he became Police Commissioner
I see he's also an avocado farmer

Lived in UK since age 2.

But what I liked about the picture was the way she's hugging the trophy. I'm sure she also thrust it skywards in the time honoured way but it was the hug that I liked.

Tyrone players share the moment with a fan: (The brilliant reddit downloader Siouxie showed me has been working well, but I guess this file is just too big so posted the page)

As I'm neither a tennis fan nor a Brit, I have no dog in this fight. However, it seems to me that anyone can choose to represent any country that accepts and supports them, within reason - and the country where someone has spent the greater part of their life is likely to have some influence over that choice. Regardless of her (smart) decision to take dual nationality, it seems that her chosen nationality for sports representation is British..... although she embraces her mixed heritage.

I reject any attempt to limit a person by their place of birth or parentage - of the rebel leaders in the 1916 uprising, one was born in Scotland, one in England, one in the USA, two to an English father, one was a knighted Ulster protestant and one was married to a Polish Count...... but I defy anyone to question where their loyalty lay!!

You might need to explain that this is after their victory in the 2021 GAA All-Ireland Football Championship
Each county fields a team, plus there is representation from London and New York (but not in 2020 or 2021, due to Covid).

I agree. That is a wonderful picture and an amazing victory for such a young girl. It is like she can't believe what she has done and she can't part with the Trophy in case it turns out it didn't really happen!

She did an interview this morning, with the trophy, to a Chinese TV company where she was speaking in Mandarin, and she has done one in Romanian as well, she is trilingual at least. I can't see any other person getting the BBC SPOTY award this year.
