Waiting at the main dealer for my car from service I saw the new Audi A8 on a display stand; - a mere €95,700..... Sliding my rump into the driving seat I took in the soft (faux) leather and that 'new-car-odour'. Before I could breathe twice the sales manager skipped over eyes alight at the prospect of an apparent gentleman of quality & sale. Sorry to disappoint! But here's what made me smile, apart from the steering wheel & club handle gear lever...... There wasn't a single other control button I recognised...

Last time we were in Ireland, due to a whole 15 minute wait at Dublin airport for the car to be ready, our rental company decided we'd waited long enough and upgraded us to an A4. It was a bloody good car, but I got caught out when we were ready to set off because I couldn't find the handbrake. Took me a while to realize it had been replaced by a switch instead of a lever.

I loved that car though, best customer service ever - all I wanted to do was check for an update, we were hours ahead of schedule as it was and were happy to wait

From what I could tell the one we had was pretty standard but it was just nice. Shame I'm too pikey to ever be able to afford one.

In Today's UK Press

He was out off his head on drugs & alcohol , got thrown out off a night club for being OTT
So decided to drive his car at bouncers ,in doing so it entered the club & injured several people
Taken to trial on 2 Counts off Attempted Murder
Sentenced to 28 years on each count ,to run concurrently
He only had a Provisional Driving Licence & has been Banned from Driving until he passes his Test
WTF

He's been banned from driving for 16 years
Abdul, who only had a provisional licence for the car, was also disqualified from driving for 16 years.

I took that to mean that at the time of his offence, he was only on a provisional licence which meant he wasn't allowed to drive until he'd passed his test, or in other words, he shouldn't even have been driving. No matter anyway, the bastard's where he belongs now.

No, it's just "reporting-like-wot-it-isn't".... How often did I see that.
Because he's got a PL he can't legally hold a full one until he's passed his Test. His Driving Record now has that ban so even when he's released under the 'UK's harsh penal system" next week, he can't drive or apply for any form of licence for 16 years, aiui.
