What made you smile today? Part III

I blame you lot over the pond for foisting bloody Blueberries on us, Blackcurrant anything is as rare as hen's teeth now!

I'm only torturing myself anyway. I should just learn how to make the bloody things myself. I have been able to get blackcurrant jam here, there's bound to be a way I can adapt that into a cheesecake topping. I'm sure I can find digestives online, if Walmart has stopped selling them as well. World Market may be my friend here ...

It's not widely used in Asian cuisine in general, as far as I know.
That being said, I googled 'Chinese cheesecake' and this image popped up. The topping here looks vaguely like a deconstructed version of the inflatable chair on the Kit Kat wrapper:

That's tofu, wasabi, green tea, and cheesecake flavours, just in case you were wondering.

Same pastry but it appears to be filled with a raspberry and cream cheese mixture.

Cheesecake would be OK, I think.

They're all Japanese, by the way.
2nd one down is green tea, 3rd cheesecake (strawberry cheesecake), and the bottom one is wasabi.

Nope, the top one's tofu. The picture is of tofu, probably with three soya beans on it. (You can get very white tofu in Japan, not like the dishwater-coloured stuff in the UK.)

I still think the cheesecake one would be decent. Jury's out on the rest though.

World Market is your friend! Albeit, very expensive. I was going to make a british cheesecake for the GF with digestives from World Market, but when I saw the 6 dollar price tag, maybe more, we decided to just buy a ready made one from the grocery store instead, which was half the price, albeit not what I wanted.
I might make one for Christmas, actually. Or a Victoria sponge. Curse my wife for getting me sucked in to GBBO on Netflix. I was supposed to not like it and be all cool and contrarian

The order of your descriptions threw me. Was deliberate
As did the Chinese characters - I guess I was right in my first guess that it was Japanese
I could go into the Chinese/Japanese character thing if you've got a spare 100 hours or so...

That's surprising about the strawberry one. I can't imagine tea flavoured anything but actual tea would be that good anyway.

The complete lack of one-upmanship or any kind of competition really was a welcome surprise. Also, no annoying 'quirky characters' or whoop-whooping. Just lots of cakes and a big scouser talking about things being over-worked.
