Herb Kelleher, one of the founders of Southwest Airlines, has passed, age 87.

Not a celebrity in the typical sense, but in the airline world he was.

Am I the only one who is sad that, now that Ray has passed on, his name no longer appears in the title of the annual obit thread?

If you ask that it be put back in the title, maybe it will be.

I will certainly do that. His name never appeared in the title until I put it in last year.

A few days ago...Pegi Young. A wonderful musician and writer. Also an amazing mother and stepmother to her 2 disabled sons, she gave time and money to make sure they and other children with disabilities could have a meaningful life in adulthood.
She was the ex-wife of Neil Young.

The first few tributes to her are what she needs to be remembered for. RIP Pegi.

Carol Channing, age 97, died yesterday. A very talented performer both on screen and on stage. She will always be remembered for her stage role in Hello Dolly.

Michel Legrand, musical composer, arranger, conductor, jazz pianist & Oscar winner.
Since early this morning France has been paying tribute. Winning film scores include The Thomas Crown Affair, The Umbrellas of Cherbourg, Yentl & The Young Girls of Rochefort.

Singing with Catherine Deneuve is her elder sister, who was tragically killed in 1967 at the age of 25 - Driving fast to catch a plane at Nice airport, on her way to a film screening at London, her car hit a post at the motorway exit. The car burst into flames, and as the doors jammed shut she was unable to exit.

And of course, the composer of this:
