Two things are guaranteed when Wilshire is playing; 1) He will get himself involved in something he has no right to get involved in, acting like a big man while others try to restrain him and 2) He'll spend a long time on the floor injured.

Just done a bracket, and I get...
Germany vs Brazil and Uruguay vs Argentina at the semis.

A Brazil v Uruguay final would be rather tasty and a bit of a 50's rematch wouldn't it...

I'd rather see Germany vs Argentina, and a rematch of 1990 . With the same result, of course, but with more goals.

No....though wish I could have gotten tickets for the Portugal v Mexico game that was played down the road a bit this evening....potentially the only footie game to get any atmosphere at Gillette stadium

The kids in school have been looking forward to that one, all hope was low for Mexico until recently, but I have been seeing them get excited as the World Cup nears, but I think this and the Bosnia game will be a bit of a blow to them.

No long now.....media really hyping it all up here in the UK, for instance, I have just seen Danny Welbeck salsa dancing with a buxom Brazilan woman on breakfast TV (the dancing was marginally better than his football).

Are we meant to feel bad for Qatar at the moment?

Sepp says we are all racist for saying they've bought it etc.

The world knows they've bought it. The world doesn't appear to know how racist the Qatari's are...in fact, the Middle East in general.

I'm pretty sure it's acceptable here for me to suggest that only white people countries should host the world cup. Not many local GCC Arabs would bat an eyelid.

****ing half-wits.

1. Who will win it?
2. Who do you want to win it, and why?
3. How far will England get?
4. Who will be the biggest disappointment of the tournament?
5. Which nation will be the dark horse of the tournament?
6. Which player is most likely to end up on the front page of the Sun, in a picture that shows him passed out in a pool of vomit outside a night club, the night before a crucial match?

1- Spain
2-USA, obvious reasons; or Spain for Wife's obvious reasons
3-Quarter finals, knocked our by Brazil
4- England like always
5- Russia

I get about the same but have more confidence in Spain;
Brazil-Germany; Spain-Arg

Spain-Brazil in the final
Spain Campeones

Has anyone set up a fantasy leage this year? I know I kicked everybody's asses last time, but no hard feelings, right?

Personally I couldn't give a shit about Qatar, it was a stupid idea to consider holding a world cup there in the first place.

I hope they strip them of it and move it to the USA. Or, at a pinch, Australia but that'd be a bitch for TV viewing. Like Grands Prix; World Cups should be in Europe, or the Americas and I don't care whose feelings I hurt by saying that.

USA can get ****ed. Europe or somewhere random. Somewhere with a football-playing population.

There actually is a football playing population here. The 1994 World Cup still has the record for attendance and that was when it was still only 24 teams. Plus I live here, so I'm biased

Ok, England, then.
