Yup. Last 8 would be flattering of the ability but maybe the confidence boost the national team needs.

I hope we crash and burn and the fans hang effigies of the players (a la Beckham 1998). That's about all they deserve.

OR

I hope we win it with a team of nobodies (a la Leicester) instead of trying to make Raheem Sterling into a left wing-back or insisting Joe Hart is No1 etc etc.

OR I hope we win it. Full stop. Somehow. 0-0's and through on penalties every time. Don't care.

Apparently Southgate said Hart is already on his list......

That right there is why we will not get very far. When the rest of the world can see Hart is a bang average keeper and there are several better options but the manager does not does not bode well.

He'll probably spout the usual BS about how he has tournament experience and the others don't whilst being the only person than can give the others tournament experience.

Don't care.
Both these positions sum up my view. Couldn’t care less. Hate international football. Absolute waste of time.

I don’t care who goes. As long as no United players go. Don’t want any of them getting injured playing in it. Except Lukaku - I hope he scores 8 against England.

According to statistics, Forster is the best English keeper at the moment.

Sadly, I don't think he's had a very good season. So the whole thing's ****ed anyway.

I like Forster along with several of the other English youngsters. I don't like Hart tho. Bang average keeper at best.

The argument of big tournament experience is a bit bullshitty IMO. How much does this effect a keeper? He has one job, to keep the ball out the net. It isn't rocket science.

It's about consistency with a keeper and defenders.
Dicking around and changing every five minutes means they're playing as a new back 4/5/6 (GK + Defenders) all the time.

I'd happily see an average keeper selected if they work well with average defenders. It's how other sides seem to be successful, why we can't be consistent is beyond me....but then again I blame a lot of big clubs with Ededed's attitude (I get why).

Really don't understand Hart being the first choice. He's never shown up in big games and he's incredibly inconsistent.

I really like Forster. Butland also deserves a fair crack at winning the job too.

If Hart and the typical 'experienced' players end up going, I'll change my predictions.

I personally see Butland as our starter, and Forster as his back up.

Englands 4 friendlies before the world cup starts is confirmed.

Holland, Italy, Nigeria and Costa Rica.

I feel like they're all similar enough teams to what we have in our group. Hopefully we can get a definite starting 11 sorted this year, with nobody picked because 'they're a star player'. Probably too optimistic on that one though.

I agree that isn't a bad selection of teams but it is typical England that Italy + Holland aren't actually in the WC

Would've liked to have seen a friendly against Germany or someone like that but obviously that's a bit of an ask!

Yeah, I would have preferred two teams in the world cup who are similar to Belgium, but I feel those two will be enough for us to measure ourselves against Belgium.

I'm looking forward to both of those games, and the rest of the season to play out and see how our 'stars' fair in the world cup year.

As someone who has travelled extensively to the away qualifiers wasting money, that is fair but it's not just Hart. Jones too and don't get me on to Andros Townsend who clearly has a surplus An on his name or a 355 year old Roo knee watching the game pass him by. Lots of them in the same basket hence failure after failurw. Golden generation hahaha last decent team was early 1990s.

Dross Townsend. Now that's a name I can get behind

But true. Too many people chosen because they're 'supposed' to be good. Pick the ones who actually play well in the friendlies AND against good teams/players for the rest of the year (not ones who are made to look better than they are by those around them ).
