North American? No, the world over judges strikers on goals. Rooney's getting peppered at the moment. Yes lots of other work can be done but they're there to score. Not scoring = Soldado.
The season is only 4 games old. There is 34 more games to be played.

If he bashes in 15 goals in the Premier League it is fine. Only a half dozen or so players do that in a Premier League season. If he is at 1 in 2 games then we have an incredibly expensive striker on our hands.

There is a responsibility on the other players to score some goals too. Last season both Chadli and Eriksen hit double figures.

The Rooney peppering is ridiculous too.

Just lazy sports journalism.

Martial, never heard of him, know nothing about him....but if the fee is correct, the young lad is going to be under a ton of pressure to succeed almost instantly, and I have to think it's a terrible position to put him in...we SHOULD have been signing a proven, 24-to-29-year-old striker to come in and do a job straight away, as well as bringing the young French lad to the club, so that he would have time to 'acclimatize' and establish himself.... let's hope he's strong enough mentally to cope with the spotlight and also succeed for us, because 36m for a kid no-one outside France appears to know anything about is a big, big gamble....

Januzaj? Adios. Hasn't advanced at all from a year ago, and flatters to deceive. I'd send him to Germany on loan, just in case he 'comes good' out there, and then we can always bring him back to OT and give him another chance to succeed in England.

Sorry to see Chico go- perhaps not good enough overall to be a long-term answer at OT, but the lad is still a quality finisher, and always did his best in a United shirt, and I will remember him fondly...his 'backwards header' against Stoke City at the Britannia in his 3rd or 4th game (I think) for us will live with me til my dying day, the most amazing headed finish I think I've ever seen, from an impossible angle!! Good luck, Chico

Clearly not, but I've heard the draw is the new win, so it's not all bad.

Very proud of what I've seen so far of Bournemouth though, not too shabby for the prem in any way, shape or form. Looks like I will have enough loyalty points for all home games too

To be fair you probably should have won, if you actually had someone who know how to score. Our midfield was non-existent. I hope it was just because we played 120 minutes in midweek.

Oh and I heard that Tim Sherwood did his hamstring trying to kick a water bottle at the Villa game...

Harold Kane having a difficult 2nd season so far, then.....

(Cainess wipes sweat from brow, thinking we could have wasted 45m on him...then remembers this morning's news about an unknown French kid.... )

Apparently Spuds could have bought him for about 15M back in June, but didn't want to spend that much.

I was pretty pleased with our performance, Tim Howard did a good job though.

With so many of the 'big' teams looking shit so far, I reckon this season could turn out to be quite exciting....

I'll take a draw as we're always shit at the Lane.

You're right about the 'big' teams. Chelsea look like they need a new centre back, they really ought to do something about that.

Oh and where have all the Liverpool fans gone. It's been quiet around here recently.

I'm still here, more disappointed with a red card for Coutinho than I am the loss. If you're going to have defenders play shit it's best for them to all do it in the same game, it would be nice if it were a one off but I can't see it being the case. Personally I think Sakho has more potential than Lovren and seems to make less costly mistakes. I saw pricks have even been sending Lovren death threats, I wonder if they ended them with YNWA.

I don't fancy our chances at Old Trafford without Coutinho unless Sturridge returns and forms and instant partnership with Benteke, though I was hoping for that all last season with Ballotelli so I'm not holding my breath. It would be nice to make fun of Man Utd for being shit but when you're equally as bad it just takes the fun out of it.

Let's face it, BOTH our teams are shit, so Coutinho missing the game at OT will probably make little difference- we couldn't score in a whorehouse, so even Lovren might manage a clean sheet for once. Having watched Garry Monk make the *astonishing (heavy sarcasm)* discovery that one of our CBs really isn't that big or that pacy (because he's NOT a CB...), and can be easily out-muscled by a large, bustling centre-forward, I'll bet even Brenda can figure out that getting Benteke to go up against Blind might yield some joy..... not looking forward to it one bit.

He obviously had an incredible July.

So farewell De Gea. I'm sad to see him go. Never heard of the keeper we've replaced him with. I'd heard we signed Navas - thankfully not that one.

Keylor Navas? Had a decent World Cup and got a move to Real Madrid, but barely got a game because of Casillas. Make sense for him to move to Man Utd as he wouldn't get a game because of De Gea.
