Mercs first and second, seems like an omen.

What an absolute waste of space Kubica was in that "race". No fairy tale comeback then. All those deluded Polish fan boys on William's social media channels must be drowning in their vodka now.

With that shed of a car they would be better off with Alan Titchmarsh driving it.

But George Russell's shed was still over a lap ahead of Kubica's shed by the end.

I thought the fastest lap extra point did add something to the 'experience'.

I think it's hard to judge from that as Kubica lost his front wing on turn one on the first lap, so made an extra pit stop. But his practice times didn't match up. What can be expected when he has very reduced strength of grip in one hand.

What happened to Hamilton and Vettel. So far behind Bottas.

True, but Ricciardo also lost his wing at the start but was 3/4 lap ahead of Kubica when he retired on lap 28. Ricciardo was already parked in his garage before Kubica passed him.

Russell seems like a sensible kind of guy from the little I have seen. Hard for him to show what he has with the equipment currently on offer. Kubica.. I dunno what he still has in the tank. Another couple of races should show us.

Hamilton apparently had damage under the car.

Yes I saw that on the BBC site after I posted, but he doesn't know how the damage was caused.

With the mess Williams are in, I think the only valid data point for Kubica is against Russell. Anyone else there is a huge unknown of the car.

I’m hoping the upgrade package is a water feature.

joking aside, I just don’t see what cam be done. They desperately need an injection of cash and / or supplier interest.

To be fair the underfloor of Kubicas car was badly damaged but given how little running time the team have had...

Also can we have The Torpedo and Crashtappen in the same team next year? I just want to watch the world burn at the first corner.

The bright spot of the event was Red Bull not ordering Torro Rosso to have Kvyat move over. I really thought they would. Nice to see Ferrari implementing team orders at the first race though.

Smile Re: Formula 1 fans?

Leclerc actually dived over the rumble strip to get out of Vettels way in the first corner and then hit the brakes to get back onto the line behind Vettel which allowed Verstappen to pass, then asked if he should hold position behind Vettel. That said Charles looks like the future for Ferrari, with the coming rule change in 2021 we might see Vettel exploring other options.

It'll be interesting to see if Ocon gets picked up by Williams mid-season if either of their drivers under perform and Bottas keeps his pace up.
