England basically got the world championship by default. When was a bit of kicking supposed to be a match winner/ tournament winner?

It's meant to be decided on overall skill, tries scored, ability and number of beers before you keel over.

Not on Jonny f'ing knee Wilkinson's boot.

NZ: better team, not bad for a nation of 5 million.

Do you even watch rugby?. England were the most dominant team for over a year leading up to last years world cup. Do some research and check the results to see all those victories over southern hemisphere(sp) sides before you come up with any more corkers like the "default" line.

Keep kicking us, until the next RWC comes around. We don't care, just check the trophy cabinet.

Typical English arrogance - you think that just because you won the world cup you can lose all other tests until the next world cup?? You are getting beaten by almost every team out there and still think you are the world best! Look at your more recent results and accept that without Wilkinson you are NOTHING!( And weren't much before that either)

What do you expect, on a thread gloating about beating England??. By using the term "You can keep kicking us", I mean't as you can continue to whine about our RWC win and how we won it, not as in you can keep beating us and I wouldn't care. We would have got crucified in the media if we hadn't of won it and we got crucified by all the other home nation fans when we did, because their teams have been so piss poor over the last few years. I'm not too worried about a few losses on a southern hemisphere test series, because they are bedding in some new players. Remember the last time we went out there with a fairly new squad? we got hammered 96-0 or close to in one of the tests. So this series ain't that bad. One of those players who took the shalacking, was one J Wilkinson. He soon bounced back wouldn't you say.

If you think I'm being arrogant, I couldn't give a monkeys!.

How we won the world cup...............

Australia scored 1 try
England scored 1 try.
England scored and Australia scored the sme number of penalties.
England scored a drop goal in extra time.

Last Winters test in Australia, England scored 3 tries.
Australia scored 1 try.

This bollocks about us kicking it all the time is getting old guys...........
We won it fair and square, sure we had a few scares along the way, but doesn't every team?

As for this current series of games, I really couldn't give a moneys, if NZ get their thrills beating the England 'B' team then so be it.

Under the headline 'Dirty England A Disgrace' the Dominion Post's Australian columnist Spiro Zavos said England were "nothing more than a rabble, a rugby equivalent of a lynch mob, intent on playing All Blacks off the ball and angering them into mistakes and indiscretions".

Zavos also turned on Sir Clive Woodward for his comments about Shaw's dismissal saying: "A genuine world champion side, like the All Blacks in 1987 and the Wallabies inn 1991 and 1999, sets the standard in world rugby for the best practice. It does not try to set the standard for 'allowable' foul play.

He continued: "Woodward's attempt to exonerate his players represents a disgrace to the leadership position he is supposed to now hold in world rugby as a knight for services to rugby. Services to thuggery is more like it."

The New Zealand Herald's rugby writer Wynne Gray follows much the same theme arguing England "were shown up in both tests as a group who resorted to bully-boy tactics when their skills deserted them. It has happened to all top rugby sides on the slide. When age hurts or skills deteriorate, the indiscipline escalates".

Richard Boock is also scathing of Woodward's reaction to the Shaw sending-off and likens the England coach to a World War I general.

"The England coach clearly prepared his team to go over the top and then refused to accept the responsibility of his own flawed planning.

"Even worse he showed a distinct lack of integrity by attacking the match officials."

Woodentop's comments were "Robinson was on the wrong side of the ruck, killing our ball. This is a tough place to play rugby, and if you're on the wrong side you expect to get sorted out. Shaw couldn't get his leg high enough to actually stand on him, so he put his knee between his shoulder blades to let him know he was there". Clearly he had not read the IRB rule book which states

Law 10 - Foul play
DANGEROUS PLAY AND MISCONDUCT
(a) Punching or striking. A player must not strike an opponent with the fist
or arm, including the elbow, shoulder, head or knee(s).
Penalty: Penalty Kick
(b) Stamping or trampling. A player must not stamp or trample on an
opponent.
Penalty: Penalty Kick

10.5 SANCTIONS
(a) Any player who infringes any part of the Foul Play Law must be
admonished, or cautioned and temporarily suspended, or sent-off.

16.3 RUCKING
(a) Players in a ruck must endeavour to stay on their feet.
Penalty: Penalty Kick
(b) A player must not intentionally fall or kneel in a ruck. This is dangerous
play.
(f) A player rucking for the ball must not ruck players on the ground. A
player rucking for the ball tries to step over players on the ground and
must not intentionally step on them. A player rucking must do so near
the ball.
Penalty: Penalty Kick for dangerous play

How many more laws can you have against this?

You have to worry about the state of mind that Herr Flick takes into the Lions preparation, he clearly hates the sight of Henry and he will resort to a death squad selection - any 'anything goes' selection. If he does take the confrontational jag, then my guess is that the ABs will match it - as they did last week. I can't see his worrying pride letting him take the guile route since that will rule out his beloved English backs, who were described by Stuart Barnes last Saturday as having 'no class'.
Woodie needs to clear his head of the current baggage, look at the available talent across the UK and Ireland, pick a GB & Ireland team, not an England 'with add-ons' and weld it into a Lions squad however I can't see Woodie throwing out that much baggage out at one go...

They're having a giraffe. I remember seeing a Lions game against the All Blacks where their captain blatantly dived in a line out. The ref bought it and thought he'd been pushed and gave what turned out to be the winning penalty. Interviewed afterwards he admitted to cheating and said he'd do it again. he said when a player comes off the field he has to ask if he's done everything he can to win.

They all try it on a bit and these reporters are coming out the usual tired pom bashing that is laughed about in this country. In the majority our press and fans will talk in glowing terms of great Wallaby and All Black teams, whereas oz and nz media rarely bring themselves to do the same.

All part of the fun!!

Actually I think the game your talking about was Wales v NZ in the 70's when Andy Hayden fell out the the line out at Cardiff Arms Park, the resultant penalty won the game

Is that the one? Cheers. I saw it on some dodgy vid about sporting cheats. Was a pathetic dive though - he should be watching euro 2004 for a few tips.

So you are just regurgatating the World Cup team, less Jason Leonard

You don't consider players like Henry Paul, Alex Brown, Mark Cueto and perhaps Marcel Garvey were worth a look?
