How great would it be if Liverpool fall apart for the rest of the season and City pip them to the post?

It would be utterly shit. We've been absolutely terrible since the winter break and putting in more than one youngster at a time doesn't help. If we lose to Bournemouth next I'll start to worry.

Whisper it, but I would rather Liverpool win it than Man City

Stop it Pommy.... it's too late for that nirvana to come true, alas.

Still, at least they are being shown up as "fallible", which completely goes against the popular media hype that they are the "Greatest Team in the World Ever, Ever".... well, at least since citeh were the "Greatest Team in the World, Ever" last summer.... it's tedious.

van Dijk is a decent CB, no more, no less. He is NOT Bobby Moore reborn.
Salah can usually finish chances. Mane has pace to burn and a good eye for goal.
Robertson and TAA are very good attacking full-backs.

They will deservedly win the league (for the first time in 30 years). That's all that needs said.

From the glimpses I seen today, the game could have gone either way. Adrian made a howler, Kepa didn't. That was the difference.

I'd heard this dross. No British side has come close to Milan of the early 90's and I'd put a couple of peak Barca teams up there.

Should Liverpool win back to back Champions leagues then I might sceptically entertain a discussion for best British side but they aren't even the best Liverpool team in history yet.

I do think their full back's are fantastic and a joy to watch and I'm excited to see what Alexander Arnold does in his career.

Bit harsh. VVD is probably the best CB in the world at the moment.
Salah is superb, bit of a quieter season, goals coming in spurts but he set that bar very high for himself.
Mane has taken control, probably their best player. He's scored some really important goals, genuinely class footballer and superb human being too
Robertson and TAA are a joke. Especially the latter, he's on for 15 assists in back to back seasons. That doesn't happen often.

I dislike the average Liverpool fan as much as the next normal, sane, intelligent human being. We all know they're a bunch of whinging victim bastards, but my gosh does that team deserve the praise it gets. Mind blowing how good they've been and how they've won in every sort of fashion - silky, ugly, gritty etc. Fair play. The fans don't deserve it or them, but fair play.

Liverpool of the 70s. Two UEFA Cups followed by two European cups and only interrupted by Forest until they won it again. Plus the four league titles.

I remember when back then people tried to disparage those achievements with "where are your Real Madrids or Ajax?" and failing to recognise that Liverpool were the new Real Madrid.

That wasn't me saying Bournemouth are shit (they are though), it was the fact that they're our next opponent, although we've lost 3 out of 4 games only 1 of them has been in the league, adding a second to that would be concerning.

Fair shout. Before my time though.

The UEFA Cup was harder to win than the European Cup in those days.

Certainly sometimes and the same principle now with the CL with 2nd and 3rd best in some leagues better than champions of others.
The old Cup Winners Cup could be a tough one too, because teams could win their domestic cup and there would be no choice about which competition they went into even if they finished 2nd/3rd. You could get half a dozen runner up teams (or 3rd) winning their domestic cups and entering the CWC.

There was often little difference between the quality of the teams in the semis and sometimes QFs across the three tournaments and from one year to the next it was often the same teams just in a different competition.

I always focus on this as a good illustration: UEFA Cup 72-73, Liverpool Beat Borussia Mönchengladbach in the final then in 75-76 they beat Brugge in that final.
76-77, the very next season Liverpool beat Borussia Mönchengladbach in the European Cup final and the next season they won the final again against Brugge. It's almost like the old UEFA Cup was a rehearsal for the European Cups to come.

Add in that Borussia Mönchengladbach also won 2 UEFA Cups in 74-75 and 78-79.
Leeds were finalists in the CWC in 73 and European Cup 75. Hamburg winners of the CWC in 77 and European cup finalists 1980.

Very high quality across the three tournaments at the end stages.

Generally high standard, but I do remember going to see FC Zurich in a European Cup semi, the opposition made it not really feel like a semi (6-1 should not happen in a semi)
Particularly after the quarter final was against a very good St Etienne, the best game of my life.

Even Grasshoppers were a threat back then. Austria Vienna, Gornik, Dynamo Dresden...there were threats from all over...although in some cases it was more to do with the Brit teams conceding an away goal due to naivety.
