Hello , I am 28 years old . I am currently a Detention Officer with Dorset Police in the south of England. I have been a Detention Officer for approx 19 months. Before this I was a police recruitment officer for Just over 1 year. I have also been a special constable for 3 years. I am due to start a new job with Dorset Police as Police Community Support Officer as of the 28th March 2011. I have also been offered the post of Police officer for Hampshire Police, but I have no start date as yet. My ultimate goal is to move to Australia with my wife Kathryn. I have been looking at possible jobs with the Police in Australia, I am interested in any Police Staff role or auxiliary officer or liaison officer. Please could someone help ?? i am not to sure what visas i should be looking at and i am not sure if the australian police force offer sponsored working visas. This is my dream, but i just dont know where to start ........ If anyone could point me in the right direction, give me any information your time would be greatly appreciated . Hi Scott.
Australian State police forces do sometimes offer sponsorship to serving police officers, but its pretty rare these days. Police civilians, SOCOs, etc are pretty mich on a loser as regards sponsorship as the jobs can be filled by Aussies. Also many of the jobs that are civilianised back home are done by serving officers here.
Have a look at www.immi.gov.au and see if there's any way you or your wife would qualify for a visa, without sponsorship, and if you have any other general migration queries, post in the Aussie Immigration forum here
