I work on Gold Coast as a gasfitter, I can only speak for Qld but it's really hard to get employment, you need to get a licence before even looking for work, they wont employ you without that. Different states have different rules, In Queensland it was easy to get Natural Gas licence as I just showed my corgi card, the inspector was ex british gas so he knew my experience. Once you have a licence look through yellow pages and phone every gasfitting company up, they tend not to recruit via papers/internet, usually do it word of mouth. big company to try in NSW is AGL, they are huge gas company, that's all I know.
