Due to all the brexit business I've looked into EU citizenship possibilities and I'm eligible for both Italian citizenship and Irish citizenship. I'm not planning on moving back to the EU for the forseeable future but I do own a house in Italy. I will visit Italy regularly, I'm sure.

Anyone advise me that it might be advantageous in getting an EU passport in these circumstances?

I would apply for an EU passport. Easy to get if you have Italian blood. Even if you just use it to jump the Non EU queue at Rome airport.

Irish will likely be easy to obtain than Italian but if you have an Irish-born grandparent be aware that the processing period is approximately 12-18 month from application for citizenship to receiving your Irish passport.

Now I've looked into it briefly, Irish citizenship looks a lot quicker. I didn't know about the 4 years waiting time for Italian citizenship (via marriage).

Italian citizenship has the advantage, for now, of being handed down eternally through a direct line.
The waiting time through marriage is 3 yrs for non residents, halved if you have Italian children. The 4year wait is for everyone who applies for Italian citizenship. However, this doesn't apply if you are considered Italian by lineage.

Irish citizenship can also be passed on indefinitely providing you are proactive enough to register each generation before the next is born.

Grandmother born in Ireland. I've already got copies of all birth/marriage/death certificates involved and am pretty sure everything is in order.
