I saw this and thought about you

Very funny but my wood always points up. I'm back on the diet since Thursday btw, I've already done 2 fast days and will do another one tomorrow. I just hope my branch doesn't droop otherwise no bird will be able to sit on it.

Back OT, we drove around quite happily with normal tyres for 25 years summer, winter, come rain come shine .... but the last few years it's been panic buying/fitting of those damn winter tyres.... it's all a massive con I'm sure.

They're not even compulsory on any of our roads round our way ...

My appointment's on Nov. 7th ...

Yeah they are bloody expensive as well. Both our cars have 17" alloys for the regular tyres but our winter tyres are on 15" alloys. It was cheaper to buy a set of Michelin Alpin and brand new 15" Sparco alloys than to get a set of just tyres for the OH's car because her wheels need some unusual size.

We pay 60 Euro a year for the garage to keep our tyres to protect my bad back! Also, OH can go on her own and get them done whereas before I had to twice load a set and make two trips to the garage.

Oh yeah no way am I getting tyres form the coop or whatever and doing it myself ... as some do. Mind you it's not as if I have to pay every time, for labour or storage it's al included in the price and this will be the third year I use them (providing they are still OK).

It's still all a con anyway. Formula 1 mentality.

The tyres do work though in the ice and snow, it was great fun testing them out. I think the whole point is to reduce the traffic when the bad weather comes. My 5min 4km journey home from work once took over 2hrs because no doubt some cars got stuck causing tailbacks.
