Hello All, so i have been here 1yr and a half...ive come to the point where im not sure "what to do" originally i had only planned on staying one year but then i become too comfortable and now most of my friends have moved on from here im not sure whether to stay or go
I visit home quite often and i know everyone says its better here in Italy but when your not making money and have lost friends its difficult. I just dont want to move back and then regret it after. Also the summer is arriving and i know its amazing in the summer, its just difficult to find work here.
If anyone has suggestions id love to hear from you, thanks
Oh and sorry for being a grump

Hi,
what have you been doing for the last 18 months? Work wise I mean - and have you still got that job?

Wow!! I think im just down because my friends have left and also with my job i tend to have to look after the little boy more than i should be and not getting paid for it. Im looking for a nanny position because i have basically been doing that anyway..

This will be easier when the nice weather comes.
I only ever considered nanny jobs where I had my own flat so that when I was off work, I really was off work and the parents couldn't ask me to keep an eye on the kids and take advantage of me being there.

Natasha,
I think Lorna's advice to take the summer to think it through is spot on. You could also look around and see what other job opportunities there are for you.
It sounds to me like you are being used at the minute.
ciao

How did you find this job in the first place? Could you try a British Agency?
Or what about websites like the one below? You get food and board and you could network from there and try to get a paid job. I know its not what you really want but might get you out of your current situation. You'll only end up resenting the little boy.
Or make contact and see if you can find paid work through it. Just a thought

You can tell by some adverts on there they want you to do everything or be a slave, but not all of them are and the ones with reviews and responses to the reviews give away a lot of info. Not all of them are Au Pair requests.
If you are young and want to socialise a lot, there is this one:

There are adverts on there from Venezia btw.
Alternatively can you advertise somewhere as an Au Pair or Nanny - using your mobile number or a friends mobile number?
