Default prescriptions ?

Hello all again,we both have pre existing medical conditions for which we need prescriptions, one of these is a medical condition which meets free meds requirement in UK.

We contacted the DWP regarding the s1 /s2 form and have been told it is stopping next month.with this in mind does anyone know how we can get our meds, do we need private med insurance and can we sign up with doc as soon as arriving?

We are buying to reside in Italy
Thanks for any info

Yes, unless you have a job or have UK pensions, you do need medical insurance for the first 5yrs to sign up for residency. No, you cannot sign up until you have applied for residency.

At the moment, essential meds are free or almost on the NHS. This will probably changed as a law is going through parliament make these exemptions income related.

I think that 37100 has replayed in this sentence.

Hello again thanks for all the info,we are going to be self employed in Italy and we realise the headaches that are probably coming our way but if we want to start this adventure we will have to get through it all.we will look back in 10 years and wonder what we were worried about ! Can anyone suggest a health insurance for the first 5 years until we can enter into the Italian NHS , and also can we apply for residency immediately so we can sign up with a doctor and get our prescriptions, once again thanks for your help I'm sure well get there in the end. Caron and Larry

If you will be self-employed in Italy, that is, paying taxes here you will be covered by the Italian NHS.
